$750 Prize Pool

Mystery Game Tournaments

1 v 1 tournaments where competitors face each other by playing games that are revealed to them moments before playing. There is one simple goal with these games, one player is a winner and the other is the loser!

Your Goal

Make as many 1v1 competitive games with compelling experiences as possible!

FROM SEAN

Hello, everyone!

Few thoughts before you venture.

The goal of this jam is centered around ideation and execution. Your box is simple, there should always be 2 players and there should always be a clear win condition for those players to fight over. Explore the space here - Is it a racing game? Is it a puzzle and first one to figure it out wins? Is it flappy bird and last standing wins? What's the base skill requirement for your game? Accuracy, Precision, Timing, Rhythm, Collection, Exploration, Survival? I know that in the short space of time, it will be hard to build so many ideas. Cut deep into your game and really find the core user experience - throw almost everything else away! Try to reuse code and as always, if you're in need of help, you can find me on our Colorado Game Dev slack, or by email below!

Best of luck!

The Rules.png

1.

Any engine you like.
Just be aware that if you’re using something away from the norm, we might not be able to help too much technically.

3.

Digital Games Only (Sorry)
No physical games this time, sorry!

5.

All art assets used should be owned by yourself
or under the creative commons licence.
Try to create as much as you can. Have fun with it!
ANY ASSET YOU USE THAT IS NOT YOURS MUST BE DOCUMENTED

7.

Submissions must be in before the deadline.
You must have your game page submitted to our form before the time is up as well as on itch.io and registered to our game jam on there.

9.

As Many Projects As You Can!
The goal is to make as many compelling experiences as possible. This is not like other game jams where you’re focusing on one product.

11

There should always be a 5 second countdown before a "round" or "game" begins. There should also be the basic rules present on screen before the game begins so that your players understand what they need to do before the round/game begins.

2.

Asset stores are allowed!
Of course you don’t need to create everything yourself, but try to make as much as you can. Don’t let small things hold you back though.

4.

The theme must be incorporated!

Your games must be 1 v 1  competitive games.

6.

All Teams are expected to upload a playable version
of their games.
All digital games should try to be uploaded to itch.io and a link to the game submitted through our submission form that will follow later in the event.
No Board Games.

8.

Be good to each other. Share ideas and be accepting of others.
You may not always agree in the groups. Don’t be frustrated by this. Make concessions and support your partners. “Bring me up, don’t put me down”

10

Max team size of 2!

This is a Colorado focused game jam. I'm sorry, but you will not be eligible for prizes if you are not a Colorado resident.

Game Managers & Input Managers

All manager classes, like your game manager or input manager, should be called "[Manager Type]Manager_[name of game]". This is important for the second half of this game jam, so please try to stick to the convention.

Eg, my game name is "OneTap"- my game manager is "GameManager_OneTap".
