AI INTEGRATION JAM
MARCH 27th -> 1st April
Your Goal
Create a tech demo showcasing an interesting use of a AI Assisted Pipeline for video games
FROM SEAN
Hello, everyone!
Few thoughts before you venture.

There are two current problems in game development that others are banking on AI to "solve"...
Risk Management
The ability to create a game with lower amounts of overhead, with the same level of fidelity and depth of traditional games, to be able to get games to market at lower costs to developers, meaning games that don’t ‘Hit or not’ can still be closer to profitability for a developer.
Time to Market.
Games take a lot of people and/or a lot of time to create. We want games out - now - and players to be giving feedback - right away - This isn’t always the right idea or thing to do, but the problem still persists that it costs a lot to get a game to market, many games that could have been great die in transit or are lost in obscurity due to lack of marketing budgets or “finding the algorithm”

Whether your believe that Gen AI can solve some of these problems or not... I want to provide a space to explore the idea - unconditionally and without judgement to see what is real and what is fluff.

I don't feel there is any way around it
Some of the tools that are in prototype/early release phase right now will become more and more solidified into our workflows over the next 3 years (at a minimum). Whether we like it or not~ This is coming. I believe it’s worth putting aside any preconceived notion and start diving in.
So many large scale tools, micro tools, plugins and full pipeline flows are being launched each week. Understanding what is worth our time, what is fluff and how far can we push the current toolsets will set us one step closer to where the future of game development is looking to go. We are creating this Jam as an opportunity to explore, understand, relate and make concrete decisions if any of these current toolsets are going to change how we make games.
Let me be clear. This is not to explore for the sake of “how do we replace real work". The closer to the subject matter you are, the more creative it will be. The issue is speed to failure~ This is a moment to see what is what and maybe be even surprised.
This is a learning experience.
Be prepared to share your pipelines so others can learn.

1.
Any engine you like.
Just be aware that if you’re using something away from the norm, we might not be able to help too much technically.

If you need help, reach out!
Discord #seanyy1337 or via the contact form below.
3.
Digital Games Only (Sorry)
No physical games this time, sorry!
5.
Your submission will need a description of:
1) Your process of creation.
2) The tools you used in your pipelines.
3) What were your results.
4) What were your thoughts.

Included with your submission should be:
1) Something runnable in a game engine.
* Everything should end up in an .exe. Not just .fbx's or sprite sheets. This must be something that gets to the engine and is workable for someone making a game.
7.
Submissions must be in before the deadline.
You must have your game page submitted to our form before the time is up as well as on itch.io and registered to our game jam on there.
9.
Go individual or go wide.

You can either go down one pathway or many pathways in your exploration.

We're just looking for examples of clean integrations
2.
Asset stores are allowed!
Of course you don’t need to create everything yourself, but try to make as much as you can. Don’t let small things hold you back though.
4.
The theme must be incorporated!
The goal is to explore "AI" tools that are out there to try and solve against our current issues.

I want you to use as much or as little as you can, but you will be judged on your usage of GenAI in your tech demo creation. That ultimately is the goal here. I want to see "what cool things can be made"
6.
All Teams are expected to upload a playable version of their TECH DEMO.
All digital games should try to be uploaded to itch.io (tagged as GenAI) and a link to the game submitted through our submission form that will follow later in the event.

Make sure rule 5 is included with your page.
8.
Be good to each other. Share ideas and be accepting of others.
You may not always agree in the groups. Don’t be frustrated by this. Make concessions and support your partners. “Bring me up, don’t put me down”
10
Max team size of 2!
This is a global jam. You can do this from anywhere.

What do we want to see?
To be clear ~ I believe "interesting" is not just "how do I generate images to make a single model."

I am not looking for "how I 1-prompted this whole game! how cool is that?!" -- THAT is not interesting.

Did you integrate something into your loot balance?

Did you create special moments in a game via injection?

Did you find a way to keep a game consistent in style between tools?

We're you able to take the heavy lifting out of multiplayer setup? ~~ this is interesting to me.

Find the balance of the obvious vs inventive.
When do we start?
I'm MST time, so Midnight to Midnight on the defined dates are the times.
